What information we collect
Information you give us directly:
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this to send you The 2027 Brief newsletter and occasional updates about the pension inheritance tax change.
When you request a referral to a financial adviser, we collect your name and email address, and the results you have generated using our calculator, in order to pass these to a regulated IFA who may contact you.
Information collected automatically:
When you visit our site, we collect standard analytics data through Google Analytics, including pages visited, time spent on the site, and the device and browser you are using. This data is aggregated and anonymised — we cannot identify individual visitors from analytics data alone.
We also use cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Information from the calculator:
The numbers you enter into our pension IHT calculator are processed entirely within your browser. These figures are not transmitted to our servers, stored, or associated with your identity unless you choose to submit your email address after receiving your results. If you submit your email, the results at that point are stored alongside your email address so that we can send you a personalised summary.
How we use your information
Newsletter subscribers: We use your email address to send you The 2027 Brief newsletter, typically once per week. We may also send you occasional updates when significant developments occur (such as HMRC publishing new guidance). Every email contains an unsubscribe link. We do not sell your email address to third parties.
IFA referral requests: When you request a referral to a financial adviser, we share your name, email address, and a summary of your calculator results with our IFA partner(s) so that they can contact you for an initial conversation. Our IFA partners are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We receive a referral fee from the IFA if you proceed with a consultation. This does not affect the cost to you.
We will tell you clearly when we are sharing your information with an IFA, and we will only do so with your explicit consent.
Analytics: We use anonymised analytics data to understand how people use our site and improve the content and tools we provide.
